Local History
The townships of Sunraysia offer many well-preserved examples of European Settlement to explore and the nearby national parks are often referred to as ‘open air museums’ with evidence of Aboriginal history that will enchant and excite you. Some artefacts dating back almost 40,000 years have been identified in the region.
Meander downstream on a historic paddleboat with your choice of short or long cruises and on-board dining. Take up the Chaffey Trail and explore places of historical significance in and around Mildura, or visit the historical museums and homesteads in the region such as the beautiful Rio Vista House overlooking the Murray River and immerse yourself in the era by riding the Red Cliffs Historical Steam Railway.

If you fancy a fun day out with family or a group of friends consider the Putt Putt Family Fun Centre, a complex with 18 hole golf course, dodgem cars, laughing clowns, air hockey, pool table and over 40 arcade games. Take a breather in the onsite kiosk or try your luck of the many prize redemption games available.
Another excellent entertainment choice includes the Mildura Formula K Grand Prix Go Karts, with lots of zippy fun karts to choose from, test your skill along the venue’s exciting track and try to beat your friends to the finish line! Or consider the fun filled past-time of Sun City Rollerama; an indoor skating rink operating on the Go Kart premises, with fully stocked snack bar and air conditioning to ensure you a comfortable visit.
Riverside Attractions
Make some wonderful memories by hiring a houseboat or taking a river cruise along the iconic Murray River. A range of options exist to hire incredible house boats to suit different budgets, and offer a unique way to sight-see along the Murray’s breathtaking Mallee and outback regions.
Unwind and take in the superb countryside and rustic Australian bushland with a cruise on one of the Murray’s historical paddlesteamers. Enjoy the vintage charm of paddlesteamers Melbourne, Rothbury or Ruby Wentworth as they weave you through the areas natural attractions. Opportunities also exist to extend your stay, dine aboard or partake in winery tours and tastings.

A variety of gift and specialty shopping exists within a short distance of Irymple, most notably the Woodsies Gem Shop. This large gem and gift shop amongst an extraordinary cave-like setting with live jewellery manufacturing taking place in the showroom. View the store’s private collection or settle down in the Cave-Inn cafeteria for a range of snacks and refreshments. The Gordon Crazy Maze is another fabulous attraction to enjoy between shopping at Woodsies.
Tantalize your tastebuds at Mildura Chocolate Company and visit their production site to see how they make their finest chocolate. The company’s milk, dark and white chocolate sweets include a range of flavours such as peppermint, blood orange, mandarin, Turkish delight, marshmallow and other seasonal delights to indulge in.
Parks & Reserves
Irymple and surrounds boast many fine parks and reserves to get amongst during your visit to the region. The Australian Inland Botanic Gardens is the first semi-arid garden in the Southern Hemisphere with visually stunning examples of exotic plants from around the world. Take one of the many self-guided waking tracks through the premises and its many features, such as the rose gardens and large rock gardens.
The parks of Hattah-Kulkyne and Murray-Kulkyne sprawl across the Mallee Country with freshwater lakes and creeks connected to the Murray, incredible pine woodlands, red river gums and ancient Buloke trees amongst scrub with abundant wildlife to discover. The area has a number of walks and trails, and is renowned for its camping, caravanning, fishing, boating and swimming opportunities.
Food & Wine Experience
The Sunraysia Region is well-known for its sensational fresh produce, restaurants and fine wine. Savour a drop at the Sunraysia Cellar Door in the heart of Mildura’s civic centre. The modern wine bar offers a selection from 22 wine producers in Australia’s Murray Darling Region and a range of local olive oils and regional produce.
The well-loved Spanish Bar & Grill is an award winning dining experience at the Mildura Grand Hotel. The establishment has an extensive range of menus from the standard dinner menu to children’s and desserts menus. The restaurant has attractive and warm décor with comfortable seating and ample space for larger groups.
Or, if its convenience you are seeking, a visit to the Irymple Hotel will uncover a charming country-style bar and bistro offering delicious pub fare in a leisurely environment. The large establishment is located two-doors along from the Orana Motor Inn and open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.
